My book, the movie and SCBWI-WA Conference

I’ll bet every writer dreams of having her book made into a major motion picture. I know I do. And thanks to blogger Marshal Zeringue’s fun blog “My book, the movie,”  you can now see which three actresses I’d choose to play Stevie, Mom, and Aunt Mindy if FLYAWAY were made into a film. Check out my post here.

In other exciting news, I’m on the faculty of the SCBWI WA Conference this year, which will take place April 20 – 22nd at the Marriott in Redmond Town Center. I’ll be sharing the spotlight with such literary luminaries as authors Bonnie Becker, Matt de la Pena, and Bruce Hale; Susan Cheng, Senior Editor at Tor Books; and my own wonderful agent, Chris Richman of Upstart Crow Literary. It promises to be an action-packed, inspiring weekend. Register now, as this event always sells out quickly!

  1. Kimberlee says:

Helen, I love your cast for Flyaway! When Hollywood gets hold of your book, I hope the casting directors ask for your advice =)

  2. Thanks, Kimberlee. I reconsidered after you asked me the question on your blog. If only Hollywood would get hold of the book, right?
